Background

On the 15th of July 2020, during COVID, Francois and Marietjie Uys could finally open the doors of Vonkelogies. They are both qualified educators that received their training at the old OKP. Later Francois completed his BA in Arts and Philosophy through the University of Stellenbosch.

Vonkelogies is a Christian-based school that has built its value system on the teaching of the Bible. The school is situated on the grounds of the Branckenfell West NG church in Janie Street.

The name “Vonkelogies” has a long history. Years ago the congregation had a feeding scheme that supplied food to learners of surrounding schools. Thus the Vonkelogie project was born.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. Your eyes tell the story of what is in your heart.

Vision and Mission

Vonkelogies is a Christian school based on values from the Bible.

Vonkelogies strive to be a pre-school of excellence, with the aim to develop the learners at ours school in a safe and loving environment.

To achieve our vision, we strive to:

Classes

Facilities

Our School features:

Every class is equipped with CCTV cameras to monitor activities. These cameras are for the safety of the learners as well as a tool for Vonkelogies to investigate any incidents.
All extra-mural activities are arranged between the parent and presenters of the activity. All payments are made directly to the coordinator of the activity
Access is controlled to keep the learners safe.
A kitchen where meals and snacks are prepared fresh daily.
Bathrooms that are fitted for the learners.
• A big enclosed play area where all learners can play with age-appropriate equipment, no learner is ever left to play without supervision.

Logistics

School hours and holidays:

Vonkelogies is open Mondays to Fridays from 06:15 to 17:45

Gates are locked at 08:15 for the daily programme to commence.

The office is open from 07:00 to 13:00.

Vonkelogies is open during the year, except for a 2-3 week period over the December/January holidays and Public Holidays. Specific dates that the school will be closed will be communicated each year.

Refreshments and Meals

The menu is planned with the assistance of a Dietician to ensure that the learners receive well-balanced, healthy meals

It is designed on a 5-week rotational system and can be viewed on the notice board in the foyer.

Any food intolerances or allergies must be brought to the attention of the Vonkelogie staff.

Breakfast / Morning Snack / Lunch / Afternoon Snack

Please take note: All meals for the learners 3 – 12 months must be supplied by the parents, until alternative arrangements are made with the parents.
